The halftime show at the Super Bowl, the pinnacle of American football and global entertainment, traditionally showcases the world’s leading musical talents, incredible performances, and breathtaking production. Last year, the event captivated over 118 million viewers. This year, the honor of performing during the halftime show went to American R&B sensation Usher, with none other than Will.i.am, frontman of the iconic pop-rap group Black Eyed Peas, making a surprise guest appearance on stage!
Together, Will.i.am and Usher performed their collaborative smash hit “OMG, ” a track written and produced by The Black Eyed Peas’ leading man. This performance was Will.i.am’s way of returning the favor from 2011, when Usher made a surprise appearance during the iconic group’s Super Bowl performance.
“How can I explain it? There’s no words to really explain that,” Will.i.am remarked post-performance. “Now 13 years later, it means something totally different. It’s beautiful. It was wonderful. It’s fantastic,” he concluded, noting that the entire performance was filled with “OMG” moments. Among these were the roller-skating dancers, while the two music megastars ensured a memorable spectacle.
For decades, the Super Bowl Halftime Show has featured the biggest names in global music, including The Rolling Stones, Prince, Michael Jackson, Bruce Springsteen, U2, Madonna, Justin Timberlake, Beyoncé, Rihanna, The Weeknd, and many others. This year marked Will.i.am’s second appearance, following his 2011 performance with Black Eyed Peas as the headline act.
Black Eyed Peas are set to headline this year’s edition of EXIT Festival, taking place from July 10 to 14 at the Petrovaradin Fortress. Themed EXIT Starseeds and with the slogan “Awakening our Superpowers Together,” the festival will include a special Starseeds Takeover performance on Tesla Universe stage on “day zero.” Festival tickets are available here.
