The last of them, a collaboration with Bobby Raps — “Leave Me Like This” — shot to the top of the Beatport Top 100, one of those charts most responsible for generating a global hype. The wave keeps growing and growing, revealing what we could have anticipated in early January — 2023 will be the year of Skrillex!
“Leave Me Like This“ follows two singles – “Rumble,“ on which Skrillex was joined by Fred again.. and MC Flowdan, and “Way Back“ with PinkPantheress and Trippie Redd. American rapper, singer, and songwriter Bobby Raps is featured in the new hit, while the track was also “enhanced” by the famous “Oh my God!“ sample from the cult EP “Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites.“ The euphoric and emotional “Leave me Like This” combines a UK baseline with Skrillex’s original sound, which is so recognisable that you can easily guess that Sonny Moore is behind it.
Skrillex’s unstoppable streak of releases will continue with the single “Real Spring,“ which he announced yesterday on social networks. He was joined for this release by Swedish rapper, singer, and producer Bladee, and the new track arrives today!
All these songs will be combined for a double album coming out later this year, which Skrillex announced back on 1st January, with a caption QFF/DGTC 2023. The meaning of “QFF“ is yet unknown, while “DGTC“ is widely associated with the producer’s 2022 tweet “Don’t Get Too Close,“ which could be the album’s name.
The last album that Skrillex released, 2014’s “Recess,“ redefined the global music scene and reached #4 on the Billboard 200 chart. It also brought the masterful producer one of his eight Grammy Awards, which is a record when it comes to electronic music, also surpassing some of the world’s biggest pop stars, such as Ed Sheeran and Maroon 5.
This epic release and reform of the dubstep genre brought him to EXIT in 2014, while his performance and cancellation of several subsequent tour dates to stay at the festival for a few more days will remain forever etched in the history of EXIT.
