This release offers fans a chance to relive the raw energy that defined these historic performances. The timeless three-album set will include recordings of their legendary concerts in Atlanta, Dallas, and San Francisco, with the first installment arriving as early as February. This announcement also sets the stage for the adrenaline-packed lead-up to the 25th EXIT Festival, where the band will perform, now fronted by the dynamic Frank Carter!
The new release brings to life performances that marked a turning point in the punk revolution, revisiting hits that forever changed the face of rock music, including “God Save the Queen,” “Bodies,” and “Anarchy in the USA,” from their one and only studio album, “Never Mind the Bollocks, Here’s the Sex Pistols.” Each concert in this collection will receive a special vinyl edition in red, white, and blue, while a comprehensive CD box set and digital release of the recordings will also be available.
The first release, a red vinyl edition, drops on February 28, featuring the January 5, 1978, performance at Atlanta‘s Great South East Music Hall. The second, in white vinyl, follows on March 28, showcasing the January 10 concert at Longhorn Ballroom in Dallas. The third release, on blue vinyl, arrives on April 25, capturing their final tour performance at San Francisco’s Winterland Ballroom on January 14. On the same date, all three concerts will also be available as a triple CD set and in digital format.
Footage from this controversial tour — which marked the band’s last performances until their reunion in 1996 — captures some of the most iconic moments in punk history. These include Johnny Rotten‘s provocative question to the San Francisco audience at the end of the final show: “Ever get the feeling you’ve been cheated?” — a reflection of the chaos and disillusionment that overshadowed the tour. The Dallas show, often described in radio recaps as the most bizarre and destructive musical event ever witnessed in the U.S., is also a key highlight.
The Sex Pistols’ influence on music is immeasurable, inspiring countless legends, including Liam Gallagher of Oasis, who recently credited “Never Mind the Bollocks” with transforming his perspective on music. From 2024, the punk icons are fronted by the phenomenal Frank Carter, hailed by major global media as “an injection of fresh energy,” saying that the Sex Pistols are ”not good despite the absence John Lydon – rather, they are great because he’s been replaced by Carter.” UK media giant The Guardian writes that Carter brought fresh charisma to the legendary group. Fans fortunate enough to see the band live in their new lineup have called the experience one of the best shows of their lives, urging others not to miss the chance.
This eagerly anticipated release coincides with the Sex Pistols’ preparations for their performance at the 25th-anniversary edition of the EXIT Festival. On July 13, the Main Stage audience will witness the indescribable energy of these punk icons.
