As EXIT Universe arranged, instead of the initially planned date, this mystical winter flower will manifest its full power and awaken the spring on Saturday, 1st April, at EXIT’s big seven-hour party. On this occasion, the aptly named Flower Power will celebrate peace, love, and togetherness on Nikola Đurković Square. This unique musical event in downtown Herceg Novi will be headlined by one of the most famous artists on the global house scene, the masked grandmaster Claptone, in his premiere performance in Montenegro, while the main star will also be the region’s woman of the year, the fantastic Konstrakta, together with her band Zemlja Gruva. Admission will be free for all visitors.
The symbolic name refers not only to the awakening of spring but also to a slogan created more than half a century ago as a pacifist response to the ubiquitous violence, war, and oppression in society. At its core, Flower Power represents the trademark and guiding thought of the hippie movement that promoted peace, love, harmony, and compassion in response to the challenges of the times. The term was coined in 1965 by the American poet Allen Ginsberg as a means to transform war protests into silent resistance and peaceful, affirmative spectacles, crowned by Woodstock as the defining symbol of the counterculture and social movement of the sixties.
Flower Power is not just a musical event but a reminder of the power that music has in connecting people and creating positive social change, as was the big celebration marking half a century of the Summer of Love at the EXIT festival in 2017. Today, EXIT is the only active music festival that arose out of social change and has nurtured its reputation as a youth social movement for more than twenty years, through which it has demonstrated its foundational values, namely peace, empathy, love, solidarity, and togetherness.
As a sign of the revival and maintenance of these values in today’s world, the EXIT team and the Tourist Organization of Herceg Novi invite you to their big celebration, which will be held on 1st April at Nikola Đurković Square. The musical spectacle will be headlined by one of the most famous artists on the global house scene, ranked #3 on DJ Mag’s Top 100, the masked grandmaster Claptone, as well as the region’s woman of the year, the fantastic Konstrakta, together with her band Zemlja Gruva. Local support will be provided by the charming and energetic Kejt, while Nessuno, P. S., and Bodzie will represent the Montenegrin electronic music scene.
Numerous celebrities from the region will also join the Flower Power celebration and the humanitarian EXIT afterparty that will follow this spectacle. Many influential musicians, actors and actresses, representatives of the fashion industry, and influencers have already confirmed their arrival, including Kristina Bekvalac, Ana Stanić, Ivana Dudić, Kejt Bogićević, Zoi and many others, and all proceeds from the event will be donated to the association of parents of children with cancer, Fenix from Herceg Novi.
