Last July, EXIT became the first major music event in the world to use blockchain technology to sell NFT tickets for an event of this size, enabling the purchase of VIP Gold and VIP Infinite Experience tickets on this decentralized ticketing platform. This project is the latest addition to Exit’s rich collection of awards from various world renowned festival competitions.

In 2007, EXIT was the first festival to take home the title of Best European Festival (Outside the UK), it was also voted the Best big European festival by the European Festival Awards twice, in 2013 and 2017. Aside from this recognition, EXIT is currently competing for the title of Best Major Festival at the European Festival Awards.
The award-winning project was realized in cooperation with NFT-TiX, a blockchain ticketing platform built on the Ethereum blockchain. It is managed by smart contracts, which allows ticket sellers to connect with ticket buyers directly. This is part of a revolutionary technology that is helping the ticketing industry get rid of intermediaries once and for all. NFT-TiX prioritizes fair prices and exclusive benefits for ticket holders and enables long-term solutions against fraud, resale, and secondary markets.
This year, EXIT, along with Coachella, was one of the first festivals to step boldly into the NFT world. Three NFT collections were released in collaboration with global music stars and celebrities. The first collection, SHADES, was created with one of the biggest names in the world of electronic music, MACEO PLEX, the second, WINGS, was created in collaboration with the model, pilot, and human rights activist CHRISTINA CARMELA, while the third, HEADPHONES, comprised unique digital art.
Moreover, EXIT delivered a premium VR festival experience, presenting famous EXIT Festival locations recorded with an 8K 360 VR camera. Some of the world’s biggest superstars David Guetta, Paul Kalkbrenner and Solomun were an integral part of this project. This exclusive VR experience was presented for the first time at EXPO 2020 Dubai, but EXIT and Sea Dance Festival visitors also had a chance to undergo this unique adventure in the EXITVERSE zone, which was also created in collaboration with NFT-TiX.
