Singer Dua Lipa and rapper Young Thug joined him in mixing this magic elixir, while Emil Nava directed the music video.
After many teasers and a long-built hype, “Potion“ is the first single from Calvin’s upcoming album “Funk Wav Bounces Vol.2,“ which will be released this summer and which, according to the unstoppable hitmaker, was inspired by the funk band Sy and The Family Stone.
The secret ingredients that the world’s most sought-after producer/DJ put into the mix include his proven and undeniable chemistry with singer Dua Lipa, with whom he conquered the planet four years ago with the single “One Kiss,“ and a renewed collab with rapper Young Thug, with whom he recorded another hit, “Heatstroke.“
Calvin Harris spiced up the release of the new video single with a short 30-second-long “making of“ video in which he points out that simplicity is the secret to his success. The recipe calls for a keyboard, a pinch of guitar, and a deep bassline, sprinkled with Dua Lipa’s sensual vocals. “And that’s the tune, that’s how you do it,“ Calvin concluded — „you can do it too“!
„Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 2“ will be a sequel to Calvin’s 2017 album, marked by collaborations with global superstars, including Frank Ocean, Nicki Minaj, John Legend, Ariana Grande, Travis Scott and many others, making Vol. 1 one of his most successful releases with more than two billion total views and streams.
The hype surrounding this album has been building up for months. Although this release’s complete “line-up” has not yet been officially confirmed, we have seen hints of collaborations with Snoop Dogg, Charlie Puth, Madeon and SG Lewis, so we expect the album to set new standards and break new ground in terms of streaming numbers.
We will have a chance to hear the biggest hits that made Calvin Harris’s career what it is today and those that are yet to come, on Saturday, July 9th, on the Main Stage of the EXIT Festival.
