DAF – short for „Deutsch Amerikanische Freundschaft“– is a Neue Deutsche Welle (or the New German Wave) band which consists of two musicians who have been working together since the foundation in 1978 – Robert Görl, composer, drummer and programmer of the band, and Gabi Delgado-Lopez, the songwriter and the vocalist.
Round about 25 years ago Robert and Gabi met at “Ratinger Hof” which is a legendary meeting-point of the punk-scene, where they decided to work together on their project called DAF. DAF recorded five albums in four years, which sold perfectly, and for the first time ever, a German band was seen on a cover of a British magazine in the year 1982.
After releasing 6 studio albums, the band decided to split, until 2002 when they gloriously reunited and broke out with a new album named „Fifteen New DAF Songs“. Their minimalistic sound was widely featured throughout the entire career, and their unique sense of keeping it simple without sounding robotic remained a constant.
Performing on the first day of Exit festival, they are promising a great German party in Serbia!
